WHITE LABEL · COST

What a dating app actually costs to launch and to run

D8N does not publish a price list, because a serious answer depends on your markets, your volumes and how much of trust and safety operations you want to run yourself. What we can do is set out the cost structure honestly, including the parts that are invisible in a first-year budget and dominate the third.

The one-off cost everyone estimates

Design, build, app store submission and launch marketing. This is the number that appears in pitch decks, and it is the smaller half. A competent from-scratch dating build reaches a launchable state in months, not weeks, and reaches a defensible state considerably later.

The recurring costs most budgets miss

These do not go away, and most of them grow with members rather than with revenue.

  • Identity verification, priced per check — and you pay for the failed ones too
  • Photo authenticity and AI-fake detection, which needs continuous model work
  • Fraud and chargebacks, which arrive before the revenue does
  • Moderation and case review: people, tooling, training and turnover
  • Payment provider fees per market, plus the cost of adding a new market
  • Infrastructure that has to stay up during the evening peak, every evening
  • Keeping ahead of scam scripts that change every month

Why a shared platform changes the arithmetic

Every item on that second list is amortised across every brand on a shared platform and paid in full by a single company on a bespoke build. A fraud classifier trained on three brands' traffic is better than one trained on yours alone, and it costs you a fraction of what it cost to build. That is the actual economic argument for white label, and it is a stronger one than the launch-speed argument people usually lead with.

How D8N prices

Commercially it is a platform fee plus usage on the metered capabilities — verifications, authenticity checks, payment volume. Custom engineering and run-with-you trust and safety operations are priced per engagement. We will tell you what shape fits before you spend time on a proposal, and we will tell you when the answer is that none of them do.

QUESTIONS

Straight answers

If the answer you need isn’t here, ask us directly — we will tell you plainly when D8N is not the right fit.

How much does it cost to build a dating app from scratch?

The build is the smaller number. Assume a serious team for several months to reach launch, then a permanent ongoing cost for identity verification, fraud detection, moderation staff, payment operations and infrastructure — most of which scales with members rather than revenue and none of which stops. Budgets that model only the build are the ones that run out in year two.

Is white label cheaper than building from scratch?

At launch, almost always. Over three years, the gap usually widens rather than closes, because the recurring cost of keeping trust and safety current is shared across every brand on the platform instead of carried alone.

Why doesn't D8N publish prices?

Because the honest number depends on your markets, your verification volumes and how much of trust and safety operations you run yourself, and a published number that ignores those would be wrong for almost everyone who read it. Tell us the shape of what you are launching and we will give you a real one.

Is a D8N-powered app really my brand?

Yes. Your name, domains, theme, copy, pricing, app store listings and member relationships are yours. The only D8N marks members see are the trust marks — Protected by D8N and D8N Verified — which exist because a visible mark is what makes verification worth passing.

Where do I start?

Tell us the market, the audience and whether you are launching a new brand or adding D8N to an app you already run. Those three answers decide whether white label, the API, or a custom build is the right shape, and we will say plainly if it is none of them.
